The University of Texas at Austin offers two programs for students who are pursuing the Registered Dietitian credential.
-
The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) offers students a verification statement and qualification to apply to supervised practice programs/dietetic internships and graduate programs at other institutions. DPD graduates who complete a supervised practice program at eligible dietetic internships are eligible to write the examination to become registered dietitians and may become active members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
-
The Integrated Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD) includes supervised clinical, administrative and community practice experiences so that students are qualified to write the dietetic registration examination when they graduate. Students interested in this program must apply for admission.
The dietetics programs are offered to students enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin. The University of Texas publishes its tuition rates, including historical data, on the university’s Tuition Rates Page. Both the DPD and the ICPD are granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

What is the Process to become a registered dietitian nutritionist?
You must have a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and supervised practice from an ACEND accredited program to be eligible for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing exam.
While state interpretations of statutes may vary, it is ACEND's considered opinion that the program meets the educational requirements for dietetics licensure and certification in all states. However, completing an ACEND-accredited academic program alone does not qualify an individual for licensure or certification as a dietitian in any state. Individuals should review their state's licensing statutes and regulations to understand the specific requirements, including supervised practice and examinations, needed to obtain a dietetics license.
