Welcome to Culinary Nutrition and Fitness Camp at Susie’s Kitchen! Our camps, designed for youths aged 8 to 17, offer an exciting blend of culinary skills and nutrition science. Join us at UT Austin for a unique and enriching experience.

- Nutrition/Health Basics
- Knife Skills
- Kitchen Safety
- Proper Cleaning Techniques
- Cooking Techniques
What is Included
- Lunch and snacks prepared by campers
- Indoor and outdoor physical activities
- Culinary experiences in our teaching kitchen
- Fitness sessions with trainers from the Fitness Institute of Texas
- Nutrition education and healthy snack preparation
Camps are limited to 14 participants each week. Contact the camp director to discuss options for siblings outside the specified age categories.
Camp Leadership
- Director: Dr. Ladia Hernandez, Registered Dietitian and Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Nutritional Sciences
- Camp Counselors: A team of pre-professional students from the Coordinated Program in Dietetics and senior-level nutrition students.
2026 Summer Camp Schedule
We have expanded our camps this year to use both teaching kitchens. Camps are limited to 14 participants in the 8-12 age group session and 16 participants in the 13-17 age group session each week.

Camp Hours: Weekdays, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Weekly tuition: $675/session

About Susie
Susan Thomas Jastrow, a distinguished alum of The University of Texas at Austin, dedicated her career to improving community health. As a Registered Dietitian and nutritional consultant, she played a pivotal role in establishing the Nutrition Services department in the People’s Community Clinic. In her honor, the Susan T. Jastrow Excellence Fund in Human Ecology and the Susie Jastrow Teaching Kitchen in Mary Gearing Hall were established. Join us in celebrating Susie’s legacy and nurturing the next generation of culinary and nutritional enthusiasts!
